Hasbro Children's Hospital

Virtual Tour

Hasbro Children’s is the pediatric division of Rhode Island Hospital, the principal teaching hospital of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Opening its doors in 1994, the hospital was named after its primary founding donors, the Hasbro Toy Company.  The hospital is housed in a 7-story building containing 87 beds. It is the only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in the state, with an average of 6,500 inpatient and 70,000 outpatient visits in a year. Hasbro Children’s is well known for its 16-bed pediatric intensive care unit as well as the Pediatric Heart Center, Children’s Neurodevelopment Center and refugee health clinic. The Hasbro Partial Hospital Program is unique in the region as it is the only day treatment program in New England that treats children with both medical and emotional issues. The Pediatric Primary Care Clinic and other specialty clinics are located on the hospital’s lower level.

Hasbro Children’s Pediatric Primary Care is a large group practice providing primary care for newborns through adolescence and young adulthood for about 22,000 visits per year.  The team is composed of dedicated physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and secretaries. The clinic serves a diverse patient population including primarily low-income families; about 90% of the patients have Medicaid insurance.  The practice includes special clinics such as Refugee Clinic, HEALTH, Children with Special Health Care Needs, and a Fostering Health Clinic.  The clinic also partners with Community Health Workers, Social Work, Integrated Behavioral Health (psychiatry and psychology), a Medical Legal Partnership and Reach Out and Read to provide valuable resources to our families. We also have strong relationships with RIAAP and RIDOH. Several residents sit on the RIAAP board and are a part of the RIAAP advocacy committee. We also have Advocacy Day in the Spring where residents work with the RIAAP to receive training on local advocacy, write testimony, and present it at the statehouse.

Hasbro recently underwent major state-of-the-art enhancements designed to renovate the PICU, Emergency Department, Hematology/Oncology infusion suites, inpatient and clinic exam rooms, as well as common spaces.

Women & Infants Hospital

The Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island is a Care New England facility and it is a major teaching affiliate of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Each year, the hospital delivers 8,400 babies making it the eleventh largest stand-alone obstetrical service in the country. In 2009, a complete renovation of the neonatal intensive care unit was done now making it the country’s largest single family room NICU. The hospital itself holds 167 adult beds, 80 neonatal intensive care unit beds, 60 newborn bassinets, and 10 operating rooms. In 2014, the hospital was named a US News Best Children’s Hospitals in Neonatology. Women & Infants is adjacent to the Hasbro Children’s Hospital and connected via a tunnel for easy access.
