Pediatrics Residency

Lauren is a born-and-raised Midwestern gal who spent her whole youth in the small town of Chisago City, Minnesota (it’s not misspelled – it really is Chisago). She moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota, to attend the University of North Dakota for undergrad. There, she was a part of the dance team, joined the sorority life as a member of Alpha Phi, and studied Psychology with a minor in Spanish. After college, she moved one hour south to Fargo, North Dakota, began working as an EMT, and went back to school to earn a degree in Paramedic Technology. It was through training as a paramedic that Lauren discovered her passion for empathetic patient care and strives to prolong that in the healthcare environment where many individuals are burned out and jagged. She hopes to be a light for her patients and co-workers, even on dark days! 

Medical school was a dream of Lauren’s for many years that felt unobtainable as a first-generation medical student, but suddenly in 2021 that dream became a reality. She packed up her life and moved to Maine to attend the University of New England. Although she tried to keep an open mind, she knew that pediatrics was always her destiny and is so happy to be training at Brown to learn more about how to best care for the tiny humans of our future. 

It’s probably about time that Lauren mentions her life partner, Dylan. She met him in high school and they just got married in June on their 12 year anniversary before the start of her intern year. He truly is her biggest cheerleader and greatest advocate. If you ever ask, she will always tell you that medical school was only possible with him. Lauren also can’t leave out her derpy goldendoodle, Louie, or old, crabby cat, Nala. We are the happiest little family that has moved all over the country; Rhode Island is the fifth state we have lived in! That is mostly possible because Dylan owns a moving company – reach out with any and all moving needs!!! 

Lauren is an open book and always offers a brave space to anyone who may need one. Life has thrown all the things her way, and she is happy to talk about all things – love, loss, grief, success, failure, etc, etc, etc. You name it! OK – that’s all!
