Biography

Sarah (she/her) decided to pursue medicine at 9 years old when she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. She was born in Northern Virginia, but spent high school living in England, then Japan. She moved back to Virginia to attend William and Mary where she completed her degree in biology and public health. After college, Sarah spent a gap year working as a medical assistant in a pediatric specialty clinic where she began to fall in love with pediatrics. She then obtained her MD from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. While there, she worked to develop a curriculum to teach medical students about caring for incarcerated patients and started a screening project to identify disordered eating in the high-risk population of type 1 diabetic adolescents. Sarah is passionate about advocacy and social justice and hopes to work with patients who are incarcerated in our juvenile criminal legal system. She is also interested in pediatric hospital medicine or pediatric emergency medicine. Outside of the hospital, Sarah enjoys camping and hiking with her husband and dog, having tabletop game nights with friends, playing rugby, and watching The Office and Saturday Night Live. She is excited to live in New England and escape the hot weather of her home state
